Service Description

This is your Introduction workshop to Active Search. What is active search? - Teaching a dog to find and retrieve an object (starting with toys) permeated with a specific odour. The 3 main aspects you will be learning on your introduction are: - Creating a positive conditioned response to the odour through play (we need them to want to find the scented toy) - Retrieving the scented toy back to you - Basic searches to send the dog out away from you to find the scented toy The workshop is designed to work the dogs separately, so your dog must be comfortable waiting in the car between turns. This gives each handler and dog my focus to get the most out the teams and also allows others to observe different dogs working which can be hugely beneficial for observational learning. The area we are using will NOT be enclosed so your dog will either need to have good off lead control or be comfortable wearing a harness and trailing line while working. What you get? - You will get a basic starter kit on the workshop to practice at home. - Access to an online video library of exercises to practice at home. - You can come to any of the Scent Club progression sessions which will focus on developing yours and your dogs skills in different environments and with different challenges.
